My Origin Story
I want to start with an honest admission: I was not an athletic kid. Not even a little bit. Growing up in Miami, where everyone seems to be outdoors and active year-round, I spent most of my teenage years avoiding anything that involved physical effort. I was the kid who conveniently forgot his gym clothes on fitness test days. I got winded walking up two flights of stairs. The beach — which should be the highlight of living in South Florida — made me self-conscious and miserable.
By my early twenties, I was working a desk job, eating takeout most nights, and going through the kind of general life dissatisfaction that hits a lot of people in their mid-twenties. I wasn't unhealthy in any dramatic way — no major health scares, no rock-bottom moment — just a slow, creeping feeling that I wasn't living up to my own potential. One afternoon, a coworker invited me to the gym he went to. I don't know why I said yes, but I did.
That first workout was humbling. I didn't know how any of the machines worked. I did exercises wrong. I left after 25 minutes because I had no idea what else to do. But I came back the next week, and the week after that. Slowly, painfully, I started to learn. I read everything I could find. I watched videos. I experimented. I made a lot of mistakes. But over the course of about a year, something remarkable happened — my body started to change, and even more importantly, my entire relationship with myself changed. I felt capable. I felt disciplined. I felt, for the first time, like I was actually in charge of how my life was going.
That experience — going from someone who was genuinely intimidated by fitness to someone who loved it — is what drives everything I do. I know exactly what it feels like to be a beginner who doesn't know where to start. I know the confusion, the self-doubt, the fear of looking stupid in the gym. And I know the other side, too. I got certified as a personal trainer because I wanted to help people bridge that gap faster than I did.
What Made Me Become a Trainer
About three years into my fitness journey, friends started asking me for advice. Nothing formal — just "hey, what should I do to lose weight?" or "can you write me a workout plan?" I started helping people informally, and something lit up for me every time I saw someone have a breakthrough. A friend who hadn't exercised in years completed her first 5K after eight weeks of training with me. A colleague dropped 22 pounds by making small, sustainable changes to his diet. These weren't dramatic reality-TV transformations — they were real people making real progress, and I realized that was more satisfying to me than any personal fitness goal I could achieve.
I enrolled in the NASM (National Academy of Sports Medicine) Certified Personal Trainer program and passed the exam on my first attempt. I then added a Precision Nutrition Level 1 certification because I quickly learned that training without addressing nutrition was like trying to fill a bathtub with the drain open. I also hold a current CPR/AED certification, which I renew every two years. Since then, I've worked with over 500 clients in Miami — a mix of in-person sessions, online coaching, and the free content I create here on this site.
My Training Philosophy
After eight years of coaching, I've distilled everything I believe about fitness into three core principles. These aren't trendy ideas — they're the foundational truths I've seen play out with every client I've ever worked with.
I've seen this play out hundreds of times: the person who shows up three days a week, every week, for a full year will get dramatically better results than the person who goes all-out every day for six weeks and then burns out. Sustainable effort always wins. Your goal is not to have the best workout of your life — it's to still be working out a year from now.
A workout plan is just a piece of paper. What matters is the habit of actually executing it, week after week, even when you're tired, busy, or not feeling it. My job as a trainer isn't just to give you exercises — it's to help you build the systems and mindset that make movement a natural, automatic part of your life. Habits outlast motivation every single time.
If you can't see yourself doing it in two years, it's probably not the answer. I've watched people destroy their relationship with food and exercise by chasing extreme programs that promised fast results. The fitness industry profits from making things seem complicated and urgent. The truth is that basic, consistent effort with sound nutrition will get you 90% of the way to any goal you have.
Every month there's a new miracle workout or a new superfood that's going to change everything. My advice is based on what the research actually says, not what's trending on social media this week. The fundamentals of fitness — progressive overload, adequate protein, quality sleep, consistent movement — have been the same for decades. They work. I'll keep saying that even when it's not exciting.
What a Client Journey Looks Like With Me
When someone starts working with me one-on-one, we always begin the same way: a conversation. I want to understand where you've been — what you've tried before, what worked, what didn't, what you're frustrated by. Then I want to understand where you want to go, and — most importantly — what your actual life looks like right now. How many days per week can you realistically train? Do you have access to a gym, or are you working out at home? What does your schedule look like, and where are the stress points?
From there, I build a program that fits into your real life, not some idealized version of it. We start conservatively — most beginners are surprised by how little they need to do to see significant results in the first few months. Progress is built week over week through a principle called progressive overload: gradually increasing the demand placed on the body so it's always adapting. We also talk nutrition — not in a restrictive way, but in a practical, sustainable way. What are you currently eating? Where are the easiest improvements? What's realistic?
Check-ins happen weekly via email. I review your logs, answer questions, and adjust the program based on what's working. Over the course of three to six months, most clients go from feeling overwhelmed and uncertain to feeling genuinely confident in the gym. That confidence — knowing how to train effectively, knowing how to eat well — is what I'm really trying to give people. It lasts a lifetime.

The NASM-CPT is one of the most respected personal training certifications in the industry, recognized by major gyms and employers worldwide. The Precision Nutrition Level 1 is the gold standard in nutrition coaching education — it's what gave me a structured framework for helping clients build sustainable eating habits without ever feeling like they're on a diet.
A Personal Note
